Asin said that she is not worried about the people who are purposely creating controversies because she had been to Sri Lanka for the shooting. The South Indian Film Federations have banned the actors and actresses from Tamil Nadu to participate in the shooting held in Sri Lanka.
At this point Asin had gone to Sri Lanka to participate in the shooting for the Hindi film Ready. Big controversy is brewing up in Kollywood because of this. The Nadigar Sangam has decided to take action against her.
Asin while speaking to the media said,” I have not gone to Sri Lanka to support the Sri Lankan Government. I have gone there connected with my work. I have signed for the film Ready long time ago. Conducting the shooting in Sri Lanka is not in my hands.
The producer and the director is the one who finalizes the locations. After going to Sri Lanka and seeing the innocent Tamil people suffer I decided to help them. I boldly went to Yalpanam where lots of Tamilians are living. These places were under the control of LTTE.
For the last 32 years not one important person have come over here. Though I am a lady, I have gone there with guts. I had tears in my eyes when I saw the sick people suffering there in the hospital. Now I have started a trust in order to help the Tamil people here. Eye surgery was done for 300 people at my cost. I have brought five eye surgeons for this purpose at my expense and conducted this free camp.
A cost of lens is Rs 5000. I have planned to conduct an eye camp for 10,000 people. Is it wrong on my part to help the Tamilians? Why are these people taking action against me? I have adopted 150 girl children who had lost their parents during the war.
Is this wrong? They are purposely creating controversies about me. Instead of sitting in Tamil Nadu and issuing statements, why don’t you people come over here and help these poor Tamil people. Tamilians living in Yalpanam are asking me that why people from Tamil Nadu are not coming over here to see them.
They have also asked me to bring Vijay and Surya to see them. I am not worried about any controversies. I do what I feel is right.”
